Oven baked crispy Chicken Wings

Oven baked crispy Chicken Wings

Ingredients

  • 24 wings
  • Mike's Spicy BBQ Rub
  • Baking powder
  • Extra virgin Olive Oil

Instructions

Step 1. In a bowl, add your chicken wings, 2 Tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil over the wings, apply Mike's Spicy BBQ Rub and add 2 tablespoons of baking powder. Let sit for few hours ideally between 4-6 hours.

Tips & Tricks: I get asked this question a lot , "Mike, How much Rub do you add to your wings?" Honestly it all depends on you! Best tip I always give out, is to coat every side of the wing with rub to get the maximum flavour! Could be between 2-3 tablespoons but just make sure every inch of that wing is coated in rub !

As for the baking powder, I suggest the following. Once you marinate the wings, add them all in a bowl then add 1 tablespoon of baking powder and mix all together. Then add the other 1 tablespoon of baking powder and mix it up again! Leave in fridge between 4-6 hours.

Step 2. Mix it all up and place on a baking sheet.

Step 3. Preheat oven at 300F degrees & bake wings for 20 minutes then remove them from the oven, increase oven temperature to 425F degrees & cook for another 35-40 minutes. Depending on the size of the chicken wings, it may take less time so keep an eye out on them!

Internal temperature of the wings is safe to eat at 165F-170F however for this recipe I like to eat them a bit higher temperature more between 180F-190F and they will still be delicious and super crispy!

Step 4. Once they are ready, you can enjoy the wings as is or if mix your favorite BBQ sauce...... PS, we have a few good ones :)
